Please select a question about buying a Film Camera from the accompanying list.
1. Why is autoflash important?
2. I don't want to have to do too much to get great pictures. Is there a feature I should look for that can help me with this?
3. What kind of lens should I look for?
5. How can a good design assist my picture-taking experience?
1. Why is autoflash important?

Look for the latest innovation in autoflash - the variable-power flash that gives you the right amount light under any conditions. When you take close-ups of people, it provides soft illumination so the skin looks natural, not too yellow or red, in your photos. It also makes automatic lighting adjustments for night photography and high-contrast scenes. And when you're shooting indoors, the exclusive Auto Color-Balance eliminates the greenish cast that comes from fluorescent lighting.

Make sure your camera also comes with the red-eye reduction and fill flash for shooting people in bright sunlight and shadows. These settings will greatly improve your people shots!

2. I don't want to have to do too much to get great pictures. Is there a feature I should look for that can help me with this?

Most point-and-shoot cameras have "active autofocus," which bounces infrared beams off the subject in order to focus the lens accordingly. While this is sufficient, many Olympus models offer an advanced combination autofocus system, which includes both active and "passive autofocus." Excellent for landscapes, passive autofocus does a computer analysis of the entire scene (rather than a single subject within the scene) and adjusts the lens to find the best focus. With advanced combination autofocus, the camera automatically switches between active and passive modes to provide precise, accurate focus no matter what you're shooting.
3. What kind of lens should I look for?

Most zoom lenses are telephoto, which magnifies the subject. If you don't think you'll be taking a lot of close-ups, a non-zoom lens (also called a single-focal length lens) will save you some money and still produce quality photos. If you love to take landscape photos, look for a wide-angle lens, (some zooms are wide-angle) which takes in more of the scene you're shooting.
5. How can a good design assist my picture-taking experience?

Comfort is an important part of taking a picture. You don't want the camera to feel awkward in your hand so finding one that feels right to you is highly relevant. Olympus cameras are famous for their ergonomic, lightweight designs. You'll find the contoured shape makes it easy to hold the camera steady while snapping pictures. And the unique "clamshell" design closes completely to protect the lens.
