Press Conference on the results of implementation of the EU Project “Capacity building of local NGOs in providing focused social support to vulnerable families with children“ will take place on November 9, 2005 at 12.30 in the premise of Lviv Oblast State Administration (18, Vynnychenka Street, office 257, Lviv)

Press Conference will be devoted to summarizing the results of the EU Project “Capacity building of local NGOs in providing focused social support to vulnerable families with children“. The Project is being implemented in Kyiv and Lviv oblasts as well as in the Crimea republic during two years from December 2003 to December 2005 by the international NGO ”EveryChild” (Representative office in Ukraine). The Project’s partners are All-Ukrainian NGO “The Ukrainian League of Social Workers” and the British Association of Social Workers.

In the Lviv oblast the partners in the Project implementation are the Family and Youth Department of Lviv Oblast State Administration, Sokal Rayon State Administration, Yavoriv Rayon State Administration, Drogobych City Council. The Project has been operating on the basis of the partnership agreements signed by the partners.

The overall goal of the “Capacity building of local NGOs in providing focused social support to vulnerable families with children“ Project is creating opportunities for vulnerable families with children to have access to social services of high quality aimed at providing social supervision of vulnerable families to prevent placing children to state childcare institutions. Currently Family Support Services are functioning in the Centres for Social Services for Families, Children and Youth in the city of Drogobych, as well as in Yavoriv and Sokal areas. Over the period of work the social workers of the above mentioned Services have provided support to 180 families, raising 493 children. In the framework of the Project the Training Centre has been established in Lviv branch of The Ukrainian League of Social Workers. Its main purpose is to ensure professional development of local Centres for Social Services for Families, Children and Youth staff as well as to provide methodical support to Family Support Services.

The results of the Project implementation will be presented by Andriy Kornat, the Head of the Family and Youth Department of Lviv Oblast State Administration, Tetyana Khimchenko, EveryChild Deputy Director, Nadia Vrublevska, EveryChild Regional Manager, Galyna Gerasym, the Director of the The Ukrainian League of Social Workers Training Centre.
