Other events in honor of Black History Month:

Kyiv

The American Library at Kyiv-Mohyla Academy in Kyiv has dedicated its English-language Friday Film Series in February to films that showcase the African-American experience in U.S. history.

The Library will show "Glory" on February 11; "The Color Purple" on February 18, and the documentary "Scottsboro: An American Tragedy" on February 25. For more information about the films or about other event at the Library, call (044) 417-3113.

The American Library at Kyiv-Mohyla Academy has also installed an exhibit of books and prints called "The African American Mosaic" and is pleased to offer patrons a webliography on Black History Month.

Ternopil

The Window on America Ternopil has prepared a book exhibition entitled "Black Americans: History and Culture," and is screening two films about African-Americans, "Glory" and "To Kill a Mockingbird." The Window on America has also planned a discussion session with local Peace Corps volunteers on the African-American experience in the Civil War. Kirovohrad

The Kirovohrad Window on America is organizing a roundtable for students and teachers of the local university history department, entitled "Citizens and Constitution: Protecting the Rights of African-Americans". The discussion will address new laws and amendments to the U.S. Constitution adopted after the Civil War and up to the present day. The Window on America is also offering a film series entitled "African Americans in Hollywood" and a "virtual photo exhibit" called "Images of African Americans from the 19th Century."
