Such amounts were heard during the meeting of the heads and secretaries of the eparchial committees on monetary collections for the Patriarchal Center of the UGCC and the steward of the eparchies and exarchates of the UGCC.

On November 30 the first seminar of prison chaplains of the UGCC in the history of the Church and the Ukrainian state, “Pastoral care at the penitentiary institutions of Ukraine,” concluded. It was held at the professional college in Bila Tserkva that prepares workers of the penitentiary system (PS) of Ukraine’s State Department on Penal Sentences.

On November 26-30 at the professional college in Bila Tserkva that prepares workers of the penitentiary system of Ukraine’s State Department on Penal Sentences, the first seminar of prison chaplains of the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church, dedicated to theme “Pastoral care at the penitentiary institutions of Ukraine,” took place. The initiator of the event conducted at the college was the UGCC, according to an agreement which was signed on April 2, 2007, between His Beatitude Lubomyr, Major Archbishop of Kyiv and Halych, and Mr. Vasyl Koshchynets, head of the State Department of Ukraine on Penal Sentences.

Bishop Hlib visited the faithful of the UGCC in Spain

From November 9 to 19, 2007, the Most Rev. Bishop Hlib (Lonchyna), the Apostolic Visitator for the Ukrainian Greek-Catholics of Italy, Spain and Ireland, visited Spain. The main purpose of the trip was visiting the faithful of the UGCC and holding meetings with local Roman Catholic bishops. During the time of his stay in Spain Bishop Hlib visited the cities of Barcelona, Malaga, Marbella, Malaise, Pamplona, and Santander. Today in this country 16 priests of the UGCC who serve 35 communities carry out pastoral work. (In addition to the above-mentioned cities, the Church has communities in Madrid, Valencia, Murcia, Seville, Uelvi, Llaidy, Toledo, Palma de Majorca, Ibiza, Torevxei, Campoermoso, Viku and others.)

On October 28, 2007, on the territory of the investigation isolator (IISO) in Chortkiv, in the Ternopil Region, the apostolic administrator of the Eparchy of Buchach of the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church, Fr. Dmytro Hryhorak, together with the chaplain, Fr. Pavlo Menli, the builder of the church, and the council of priests blessed the church of St. John the Apostle and Theologian. On October 23-25, 2007, near Zhytomyr priests of the Archeparchy of Kyiv and the presbytery of Lutsk and Volyn of the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church held a retreat and educational meeting. “Such meetings have become traditional in our archeparchy. They have three dimensions: spiritual-fraternal, academic, and pastoral-administrative,” Bishop Bohdan (Dziurakh), auxiliary bishop of the Archeparchy of Kyiv, told the Department of Information. The purpose of such meetings, first of all, is to fortify the spirit of fraternity among priests and to create the possibility for the exchange of experience of pastoral ministry.
