It will be an exciting sight: the Cossack capital will this year be lined with European flags! Enjoy this unique opportunity to learn more about EU member states from primary sources—from diplomats, who will be eager to answer your questions.

Delegation of the European Commission

At the tent of the European Commission you can find out how the European Union came about, what its purpose is and how it is made up. You can collect informational literature and EU souvenirs that will help you win prizes at the competitions in the ‘Ukraine—the path to Europe’ tent.

‘Ukraine—the path to Europe’

Here you can you see to what extent Ukraine is integrated in the European community. You can experience first-hand what it feels like to be a Member of the European Parliament in a role-playing game. In discussion with civil society experts you can share your thoughts regarding Ukraine’s European aspirations.

‘Ukrainian civil society for Europe’

Here you can satisfy your desire to learn more about non-governmental organisations in Zaporizhzhia and the oblast that specialise in EU affairs. The umbrella organisation ‘Regional Euroatlantic League’ will offer information about local youth groups that foster awareness with their programme ‘Ukraine’s integration into Europe in the eyes of the youth’. And who knows, maybe joining an Estonian or a Belgian club will allow you to realise your European ideas?

Schoolchildren of Zaporizhzhia oblast will create a virtual Europe by dressing up as French, Italians, Germans and other nations and share their educational experiences and impressions in Paris, Milan or Hamburg…

Austria

And those who dream of Viennese culture are welcome at the tent of the Austrian Embassy. Austrian diplomats, who presently hold the presidency of the European Union, will provide full answers to all your questions concerning the politics, economics and current developments of the EU. Two extensive information stands will provide you with extensive knowledge of the geography, people, culture and traditions of Austria.

Germany

In preparation for the World Cup 2006, Germany invites all lovers of football to test their skills at penalty-shooting. And for those who prefer stimulation of a more intellectual sort can test their knowledge about Germany in a quiz organised by the German Language Centre, associated with the Zaporizhzhia National University and the Kyiv Goethe Institut. All participants will be rewarded with generous prizes. Aber das war's noch nicht! You can also take a German lesson and learn some interesting, funny or silly phrases, such as: “nach dem Spiel ist vor dem Spiel” (“After the match is before the match”). And you’ll be well-prepared to support whatever team you like this summer in Germany!

Great Britain

The British Council will tell you all you need to know about the United Kingdom. This will be your chance to participate in the Discover UK quiz and win prizes. You will learn about the British Council’s work in Ukraine and watch a selection of award-winning British animation.

France

Games, tourist information and language courses: we are ready to provide you with everything you want to know about French people, their culture and traditions.

EU Projects tent
