Hursky Ukrainian Fellowship
Syracuse University is pleased to announce the competition for
the Jacob
and Valentina Hursky Ukrainian Graduate Fellowship for 2005. This
prestigious award promotes the scholarly study of Ukrainian topics
at
Syracuse University, which is located in New York State, in the
United
States of America. It is the wish of the creators of this award
to
encourage Ukrainian citizens or Americans of Ukrainian descent to
pursue
graduate-level study at Syracuse University in order to promote
a better
understanding of Ukraine and the challenges it faces. It also is
their
wish that the studies made possible by this fellowship should promote
ongoing change for the better in Ukraine.
Syracuse University is world-renowned for many of its graduate
programs.
The Hursky Fellowship establishes as its highest priority studies
in
Ukrainian culture that would be undertaken in one of the following
fields at Syracuse.
Anthropology
Art History (Fine Arts)
Composition and Cultural Rhetoric
Creative Writing
Economics
Geography
History
International Relations
Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics
Philosophy
Psychology
Public Administration
Religion
Social Science (interdisciplinary)
Sociology
The Hursky Fellowship includes a stipend of at least $10,000 and
a
tuition scholarship for 24 credits of coursework (eight courses)
for the
academic year and the following summer.
