It is already for the second time that the Delegation of the European Commission to Ukraine organized an EU Information Bus, this year’s motto went: “Meet Europe in Your City!” From May 26 and until June 4 2005 a bus, decorated with EU symbolics and accompanied by a team of information experts, representative of the Delegation of the European Commission and the secretariat of the President of Ukraine visited nine Ukrainian cities: Zhytomyr, Rivne, Lutsk, Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi, Kamyanets-Podilsky, Khmelnytsky, Vinnytsya.

The objective of the bus tour - spread information about EU –Ukraine relations and the EU in general among the Ukrainian youth. Visitors were invited to obtain information from the information experts and to win prizes in one of the contests run by ICTV showman Olexiy Gnylisha and DJ Kid from GALA Radio. Everybody had an opportunity to show his knowledge of the political and cultural of Europe. Many visitors actively participated in the painting contest “Ukraine – part of Europe” on asphalt and paper.

The final stop of the bus was marked by the visit of the Head of Delegation of the European Commission – Ian Boag. After a joint press conference with city officials the Ambassador opened the information program in the Vinnytsya’s Central Park of Culture and Recreation and discusses with visitors the prospects of EU-Ukraine relations..

This year’s European Information Bus Tour was supported by the Secretariat of the President of Ukraine, local authorities, the European Youth Parliament – Ukraine and local NGOs.

More than 15 000 participated in the event.
