04 April 2006

On 7 April 2006, the Ukrainian Euroclub Forum will take place at 11:00 at the premises of the Cinema House in Kyiv (6 Saksahanskoho Street, the Blue Hall). The Forum will be dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the foundation of the first Euroclub and is organised with the support of the European Commission Delegation to Ukraine.

The first Euroclubs were set up in 1995. In EU Member and Candidate States, Euroclubs play the role of a key source of information and serve as promoters of European values among the youth.

Ukrainian Euroclubs work both with school children and young people. They aim at informing and educating young people in the spirit of European values, at promoting the establishment of good relations with European NGOs, and at supporting Ukraine’s integration into the European organisations.

The Euroclubs are organised at universities, secondary schools, youth and children organisations, among young people at work, and are registered in accordance with the Ukrainian legislation as civic non-profit organisations.

Each Euroclub chooses its own methods and ways of work, the most popular of which include regular meetings of Euroclub members and discussion of up-to-date issues related to the EU-Ukraine relations; local/regional/nationwide seminars and conferences; round tables and debates; scientific conferences; relations with European partners and youth exchanges; publication and dissemination of material about the EU; contests (the best article about the EU, the best picture, the best research paper etc); concerts, presentations, work with younger members (primary and secondary school students), as well as many other kinds of activities.

The Forum will be attended by the Head of the Delegation of the European Commission to Ukraine, representatives of the Ministry of Youth and Family Affairs, the Ministry of Education and Science, and members of Euroclubs from various regions of Ukraine.

Journalists are welcome to participate in the opening ceremony and the work of the Forum.
