DM Days in Ukraine 2007 The International Business Forum «Direct Marketing Days in Ukraine», which has just been held in Kiev, clearly showed not only the search of new methods and solutions in direct marketing, but also new forms of interaction. Due to the implementation of such format as panel discussions DM Days have turned from one-purpose business event into a real show of direct marketing professionals. The 7th International Business Forum «Direct Marketing Days in Ukraine» has fulfilled itself! This annual event, one of the largest and significant events in the sphere of direct marketing attracted more than 400 participants from Ukraine, Russia, countries of Eastern and Western Europe, Great Britain and the USA. The organizer of the Forum traditionally was “OS-Direct” Marketing Group. On May 24-25 in the conference hall of the hotel «Rus International» an active direct-marketing activity was boiling: competition of effective and smart solutions at the contest “Direct Hit”, interesting reports on the basis of practical achievements and mistakes, hard-edged and straightforward panel discussions. As a result each participant and guest of this Forum could get a lot of useful information, communicate with colleagues, get into contact with potential clients and partners. Within the framework of the Forum the following events were held:
It’s worth noting a new Forum’s format – panel discussions. This type of exchange of information and experience appeared to be interesting and efficient. The Forum participants took a very active part in it and often couldn’t fit into the allocated time, discussing urgent problems of the sphere of direct marketing. A separate page of «DM Days in Ukraine was the master-class of the world-famous guru in the sphere of direct marketing Drayton Bird «Ideal sales. Magic of direct and interactive marketing». There is nothing else better than the view from the outside. During the whole day of May 26, the leading figure of DM from the misty Albion, about whom David Ogilvy once said: «Bird knows more about direct marketing than anyone else in the world», was diligently sharing the secrets of strategic developments and basic constituents of successful DM business – those postulates which make possible successful DM – with thw audience of his master-class. Within the framework of the Forum there was a contest for the best DM project «Direct Hit-2007». 52 teams made up their mind to present themselves not by words but by deeds, i.e. practical solutions of the DM tasks. A thriving DM market and consequently the growth of professionalism of its players set a difficult task for the Jury of 16 DM experts under the chairmanship of Drayton Bird. Therefore, the Jury had nothing to do but to increase the number of the finalists. The best of them were awarded at the Gala-party on May 24. The tradition of «DM Days in Ukraine» – richness of content and practical value – was fully observed at all three conferences: «Mail Order in Ukraine», «Direct Marketing: tools and technologies », and «Live cases of CRM and Call-center solutions». Summing up the Forum «DM Days in Ukraine», its permanent organizer – Director of “OS-Direct” Company – Valentin Kalashnik noted: Among other positive aspects Liliya Gorelaya, the Head of “OS-Direct” DM-Agency, noted the hope for attraction of more Ukrainian participants. «As of today, the majority of our guests are the delegates from the CIS countries and Europe. We’d like to see more domestic companies among other participants. I think that the problem is in a certain superficial attitude of our colleagues to this issue. And, on the whole, we have to admit that DM is not too popular nowadays. Foreign companies clearly understand the market dynamics and their potential place in it/ But we want to develop our domestic business».
