Alumni Meeting at the time of Holidays Community Connections, FSA FLEX alumni and IATP staff celebrated New Year and Christmas together on the 28th of December. They compared holiday traditions in different countries, found some information about winter holidays on the Internet. Everyone was excited because of Christmas spirit and of the different surprises (as alumni exchanged presents). Alumni enjoyed the time spent together.

Seminar "Students' Rights In US and Ukraine"

As FSA FLEX alumni are all students, they need to know about their rights. So during the seminar "Students' Rights in US and Ukraine" they found out the rights American and Ukrainian students enjoy and visited sites about declaration and realization of students' rights in different countries.

Local Press Highlights the Work of IATP Center

On the 18th of December two articles were published in the local newspaper "Youth World". They were about 2 seminars held in Ivano-Frankivsk IATP center: for young business men (conducted on the 18th of December) and for orphans. These seminars were conducted together with other public organizations (young businessmen association and public organization "Faith in the Future"). Newspaper articles informed the readers about the importance of IATP Center activities in terms of teaching new technologies and providing access to information, and of course to Internet that is of great need for many business operations.

Seminar "Web Construction" On the 28th of November FSA FLEX alumni enjoyed attending seminar "Web Construction" conducted by Ivano-Frankivsk web master Mukhin Gennadiy. They got general information about creating different types of web sites and later even created their own first web pages in HTML mode.

Seminar "Everything About Exchange Programs" Seminar "Everything about Exchange Programs" was useful for alumni as all of them are eager to study abroad again. The trainer provided the list of exchange programs, hosting colleges and web sites where similar information can be found.

Seminar "Internet and Business"

FSA FLEX alumni first met on the 17th of October at the seminar "Internet and Business". After it alumni had a nice chance to share their ideas about further club work and creation of their own web page.

IREX/IATP Exchange Programs Presentation

At Ivano-Frankivsk IATP Center people attended presentation of exchange programs for academic and professional purposes. They will be administrated by IREX in the year of 2003. These programs include "Contemporary Issues" and "FSA" (program for undergraduates). Both programs belong to the US Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Presentation was conducted by Oksana Maydan, Ukraine regional IREX director.

Special Center Presentation for Alumni On the 26th of September alumni had their first meeting after the presentation program. This presentation was conducted by Alumni Coordinator Olga Yakimakho. Olya's speech was very interesting and informative; she told about the aim of the project, its benefits particularly for alumni. On that day Alumni Leader was appointed - Liliya Levandovska (FSA FLEX alumna). She is responsible for organizing all activities for Ivano-Frankivsk alumni.

IATP Opens Public Access Center in Ivano-Frankivsk

On August 30 IATP officially opened its 25th - and last under the 3rd stage - access site in the city of Ivano-Frankivsk. The new site is conveniently located in the center of town at Sichovyh Stril'civ, 37 (Youth Creativity Center). A group of local government officials, television and newspaper journalists, library staff, and alumni of a variety of ECA exchange programs were all on hand for the ceremony. Colin Guard, IATP regional program manager for western Eurasia, Artur Yaremenko, IATP country coordinator for Ukraine, and Bohdan Mykytsey, Expansion Coordinator, gave an overview of IATP and explained ECA's mission of providing free and open Internet access and training to all residents of Ivano-Frankivsk. Center is open for public Monday through Friday, 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.
