Tips for Travellers

While travelling abroad, use your mobile phone in the best way possible!

  • While travelling abroad all calls in roaming are charged according to UMC roaming-partners' international tariff systems.

  • Only the emergency number 112 is free of charge.

Before you go abroad:

  • Make sure you have opened an international roaming service, by contacting the UMC Contact Centre.

  • All you need to use international roaming is positive balance on your account (if you are contract UMC subscriber more than 6 months).

  • We recommend that you to add an extra deposit to your account to avoid disconnection of your number while travelling. Roaming tariffs are higher than local ones, that is why you should calculate the size of your deposit depending on:
    • The anticipated amount of calls and
    • The length of your trip.

  • Check and print the list of UMC roaming-partners in the country you are traveling to, in order to:
    • Be familiar with the services you may use in roaming and
    • Choose the roaming-partners, providing the most economical tariffs.

  • If you would like to:
    • Deactivate call forwarding to Voice Mail. While using Voice Mail in roaming you pay double the tariff: for an incoming call and for a call redirection (forwarding) - outgoing call or
    • Unconditionally forward your incoming calls to a phone number in Ukraine while travelling. In this case you will use your mobile phone only for outgoing calls.

  • While abroad, you can make an outgoing call only by dialing the number in the international format.

  • When roaming you can send and receive SMS, provided the network you are connected to offers this service.

  • While using your mobile phone abroad, you can get access to your own Voice Mailbox. To listen your Voice Mailbox in roaming dial +38 050 120 00 00. According to voice hints dial 9 digits of your mobile number (without +380 prefix), e.g. 502400000.
You can interrupt your Voice Mail greeting by pressing # key. Enter your password and press # (initial password is 0000).

  • Forgot your password? - simply contact the UMC Contact Centre 24 hours a day on the following number +380 50 508 1111 or 111 (if the foreign operator you are connected to offers short dialing numbers).
