Academic Calendar

EERC curriculum is divided into five two-month “miniterms,” each with approximately seven weeks of instruction, and one week set aside for reading, review, and examination. The program generally follows the NaUKMA practice of not holding classes during official holidays. If this practice encroaches excessively on class time, however, program classes may be held on a holiday, or made up for by shifting meetings to other days.

The academic calendar for 2006-2007 is as follows:

Miniterm I:Monday, September 4, through Friday, October 27.
Exams from October 23 to October 27.
Miniterm II:Monday, October 30, through Friday, December 22.
Exams from December 18 to December 22.
Holiday break: Saturday, December 23, through Monday, January 9.
Miniterm III:Monday, January 9, through Friday, March 2.
Exams from February 26 to March 2.
Miniterm IV:Monday, March 5, through Friday, April 27.
Exams from April 23 to April 27.
Holidays: March 8 - International Women’s Day;April 8 – Easter Holiday.
Miniterm V:Tuesday, April 30, through Friday, June 22 (for the 1st year students).
Exams from June 18 to June 22.
Tuesday, April 30, through Friday, June 15 (for the 2nd year students).
Exams from June 4 to June 8.
Holidays: May 1,2 - Labor Day; May 9 - Victory Day; May 27 - Trinity.
Thesis Defenses - June 11 - June 15.

Class Schedule

As a rule, class sessions of 1 hour and 20 minutes each are held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Some courses, however, in extra cases, are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, as well as make-up classes. Shortly before the beginning of each term, course schedules are posted on the bulletin boards and outside the administrative office, as well as e-mailed to all faculty and students. Changes in the schedule are communicated to students, as soon as they are administratively set.

Examination Schedule

Midterms and other examinations during the term are scheduled at the discretion of the instructors and are given during class hours. Final examinations are held in the eighth week of each miniterm after the 7-week instructional session. In exceptional cases, final examination maybe scheduled on Thursday of the seven’s week. The schedule for final examinations is established by the Academic Affairs Department. There is only one examination per day during the first four/five days of the exam week. Oral examinations are generally not permitted, except in the case of the thesis defenses and graded class presentations. Take-home examinations may be permitted only upon the discretion of the EERC Program Director.
