1.3 What the economic department can do for you

The rapid growth of the Ukrainian and Moldovan economies offers good possibilities for Dutch entrepreneurs. There are chances for large, medium and small companies. The Embassy assists Dutch companies doing business on the Ukrainian and Moldovan markets by, for example:

• providing information on doing business,
• facilitating contacts with local companies, financial institutions and governmental organisations,
• providing contact details of potential business partners, and,
• assisting the organisation of trade missions and promotional activities, such as trade fairs.

Our services are primarily aimed at Dutch companies new to doing business in Ukraine and Moldova. However, we can also be of assistance to Ukrainian or Moldovan companies looking for Dutch trade partners or those who seek information on doing business in The Netherlands. 2.  DOING BUSINESS

Doing business in Ukraine and Moldova is not always easy. Both countries are in the midst of a process of political and economic transition. This may pose problems for companies entering its market for the first time. We therefore advise you to prepare thoroughly, if you are seriously interested in exploring these markets. Both the Netherlands Agency for International Business and Cooperation (EVD) and the Netherlands Embassy in Kiev are ready to assist you in this field.

It is our experience that entrepreneurs in particular face problems in the field of customs, taxation and legislation. For that reason, the Netherlands Agency for International Business and Cooperation (EVD) provides extensive information on doing business in Ukraine and Moldova, including information on problems in the field of taxes, customs and legislation.
