Ukraine: Snow cover and first assessments of crop loss

On January 19, the average daily temperature is predicted at -9-14є in the North and Center and at -17-22є in the Eastern and Sumy regions, -3-8є in the West, about 0є in the South. Further temperature decline will be observed from January 20 - down to 13-18є below zero in the daytime and -18-23є in the night, down to -5-10є in Crimea.

Snow falls on January 18 and 19 were too small to increase substantially the cover. Snow cover height should not be expected to increase considerably in the nearest days of the most severe frosts. So prospects of the winter crops continues to be not bright promising large losses.
